NOTICE OF MAILING - ASSESSMENT AND TAX NOTICES

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT AS OF JUNE 6th, 2010 THE TOWN OF MILK RIVER HAS MAILED THE 2010 PROPERTY ASSESSMENT NOTICES AND TAX BILLS TO ALL TOWN RATE PAYERS.

 

 

·                     The Property Assessment Roll may be inspected at the Town Hall at 240 Main Street N.E., 8:30 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday.

 

·                     If an Assessment/Tax Notice is not received in the mail within 7 days of this notice, please contact the Town Hall, Phone 403-647-3773.

 

·                     Taxpayers wishing to lodge a complaint against their Assessment must, within 60 days of the mailing date, file their complaint in writing to:

 

Ø      Contact the Town of Milk River Assessor’s Office (Benchmark Assessment Consultants, Inc.).  The Assessor will be pleased to review the assessment with you.  If the Assessor determines that an error has been made, your assessment will be revised.  Contact information:

Ø      If, after talking with the Assessor’s Office your concerns are not satisfied, you may file a formal written complaint with the Assessment Review Board within 60 days of the mailing of your notice (date stated on your tax notice).  The written complaint should explain why you feel your assessment is incorrect, and include the appropriate filing fee.  The complaint must be sent to the Town of Milk River at:

·                     Property Taxes are due and payable no later than August 31, 2010.  Taxes must be paid despite complaints being processed.  Taxes not paid by August 31st shall have a penalty of two (2%) per cent imposed on them September 1st, and on the first of each month following for the year should they remain unpaid.  A further penalty of fifteen (15%) per cent will be levied January 1, 2011 on arrears that remain unpaid at closing of December 31, 2010.
